April 9th, 2009 to May 24th, 2024. Valiant the beagle had an amazing run of 15 years with a family that loved him dearly. On my 9th birthday we took him and his sister home, and a day after my 24th, we had to say goodbye. Although I’m heartbroken that we won’t get to spend more time together, I will forever be grateful that he was part of my life for so long. Valiant was a dog overflowing with personality. His loud howl was unmistakable, simultaneously annoying and endearing. He could be sassy and aloof one moment and needy and begging the next. He didn’t have an aggressive bone in his body and absolutely loved everyone he ever met. Lucky dog owners know what it’s like to be utterly adored by a dog. We shared such a special connection, one that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I hope that someday I will see him again and that wherever he is, he is feeling better, and that there are lots of tasty treats.
